2603 back from p+p and is on 699 lates, really the Geminis should be on the 86\a as its a qbp and the B7s should do the 79s

RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - MPTE1955 - 27/09/2013 18:26

B7's are perfectly adequate to be on a QBP.

RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - M393VWX - 27/09/2013 18:30

Yeah but the 79 did not need a brand new order of double deckers the 86\a would have been a better option for brand new deckers and the B7s would be fine on 79s

Is Merseytravel bothered about what Double Deckers are on the 82/86 QBP diagrams .

QBP are a moot point at the moment as too many non-compliant vehicles operate on them but nobody is policing it .

Is the pulsar out on 699 tonight...what is the late 699 PVR as seen 2603 & A B7TL when I was in town

The evening 699 requires three buses.

Tell regular users of the 79 that, they had to put up with mainly single deckers whilst the B7's were mainly used on 82/86 anyway. The deckers whatever they are should be used on routes that need them.

Think the single decker operation on the 79 prior to the gemini's arriving was a throw-back to the time when there was some form of competition on the 79 route , at that time single deckers where deemed to be sufficient by the management of Arriva .

RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - MPTE1955 - 27/09/2013 20:10

Probably was, but there was little if any competition to Arriva on 79 for quite a few years before the geminis arrived, even now there is no competition.

ALX400's were used on the 86/86A simply because 4100-4120 were fitted with luggage racks, and I believe it may have part subsidised for the cost by Merseytravel or the Airport to promote the use of low floor vehicles to the "new" John Lennon Airport, Remember! at the time of the introduction service 86A was a limited stop service after LSP to the Airport similar to the 501, but calling at the Marriot and Estuary.
The PVR of the 79 is more than the amount of B7's that Speke currently operate (pre-79/79D the PVR was 18/19ish and is now somewhere in the mid-twenties).

The 79 got new deckers because the route had no investment, bar 2603-2607 (The ALX300's were new to Manchester Depot, and The Renowns were bought and used on the 86.) which were "le bus 79" branded in 2006, it was also due to the "new" section to promote the use of service 79 serving Halewood and Okell Drive, giving a more frequent and alternate South Liverpool route to the City Centre.
