However, they were the last deckers bought by MTL and hopefully somebody somewhere will preserve one.

So were they like that from new with the plastic back seats?

Yes they were, surprised me when I got on one when they were new.

I thought they had them removed never new that they never that.

Thanks MPTE Smile

There we go then. Without meaning for this to come across the wrong way, is this the same driver that told you 4118 had left Speke?
Either way I dont reckon the Prestiges will stay that long, you have to remember there is a mass exit of T and V reg buses this year in the form of Darts.

Completely different batch, hence completely different buses and different spec, from the engine and seating, to the grab poles and windows.

your the expert buddy so I guess you will know. How are the engines different?

RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - K853 MTJ - 23/01/2013 21:34

The N reg Olympians have the Cummins L10, the R-WVR millennium fleets have the Volvo D10A engine.

I see I never knew that..which is the better engine of the two?

Down to preference, personally I would say L10, hands down any day of the week, but the Volvo isn't a bad engine by any means.

The refurbished prestige won't be staying long as it is as reliable as the bendybuses... not very!

Either 3313 / 3332 with LED's and was on the late 699, possibly both

Yeah 3313 has now got L.E.Ds like 3332.

Agreed! The Cummins L10 in an Olympian really transforms them into very fast buses.

All of the Merseybus Olympians (0201-0270) had the L10/ZF combination, and they were so reliable that MTL insisted the 0271-0308 Volvos retained this.

By the way, there's a feature on the Olympian in this month's BUSES magWink
