However, they were the last deckers bought by MTL and hopefully somebody somewhere will preserve one. I thought they had them removed never new that they never that. Thanks MPTE ![]() RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - K853 MTJ - 23/01/2013 21:07 (23/01/2013 19:55)Ultralow Wrote: A driver told me about the prestiges so dont no how true it is. There we go then. Without meaning for this to come across the wrong way, is this the same driver that told you 4118 had left Speke? Either way I dont reckon the Prestiges will stay that long, you have to remember there is a mass exit of T and V reg buses this year in the form of Darts. Drove lovely though with an absolute fantastic turn of speed. I still think they look nice today but passengers don't tend to like them... Completely different batch, hence completely different buses and different spec, from the engine and seating, to the grab poles and windows. RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - RSTurbo50 - 23/01/2013 21:26 your the expert buddy so I guess you will know. How are the engines different? RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - K853 MTJ - 23/01/2013 21:34 The N reg Olympians have the Cummins L10, the R-WVR millennium fleets have the Volvo D10A engine. RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - RSTurbo50 - 23/01/2013 21:41 I see I never knew that..which is the better engine of the two? RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - K853 MTJ - 23/01/2013 22:07 Down to preference, personally I would say L10, hands down any day of the week, but the Volvo isn't a bad engine by any means. RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - Raawwwrrr! - 23/01/2013 23:34 The refurbished prestige won't be staying long as it is as reliable as the bendybuses... not very! Either 3313 / 3332 with LED's and was on the late 699, possibly both RE: Arriva North West - Speke Depot - Ultralow - 23/01/2013 23:42 (23/01/2013 23:34)Raawwwrrr! Agreed! The Cummins L10 in an Olympian really transforms them into very fast buses. All of the Merseybus Olympians (0201-0270) had the L10/ZF combination, and they were so reliable that MTL insisted the 0271-0308 Volvos retained this. By the way, there's a feature on the Olympian in this month's BUSES mag ![]() |
