I've always thought the Enviro400 was a very modern looking bus and was surprised they have been looking to change it. Internally, the Enviro400s' upper deck is a lot more spacious than the Geminis and hopefully they don't compromise that with this redesign.

The current old enviro 400s do look a lot better than the very early models which really did look nasty however if they wanted to do a less prominant style change they could of given them the same finish as the HK examples which i actually really like. I think the Wrightbus bodywork has aged much better than the ADL range but its obviously my own personal opinion. Also the front on the olympus looked a lot nicer than the old enviro front, Again my own personal opinion. Smile

I'm definitely a fan of the new design. Plenty more photos in the downloadable PDF too for anyone that's not caught it yet. Certainly look forward to their ambitious claim of it being a rattle-free bus!

Certainly it should be an 'operator's bus' with their seemingly extensive research with customers. Just a shame there doesn't seem to be as great an emphasis on passenger feedback in the write-up though.

RE: New Enviro400
Just had a look at the other photos and WOW what a bus it looks fantastic Smile A massive improvement on the previous design. I like how high quality it looks compared to the old one which really did look cheap compared to a Wrightbus, However this has a high quality looking finish to it and the best part is the fact that it does not even look like an alexander. The plastic around the staircase looks like actually plastic compared to the previous one which had that cheap looking cardboard around the staircase. Also the upper deck rear window has been widened ironically like the very early Enviros which looks a lot better than the previous smaller window. Also the lower deck looks completely transformed with a Wrightbus style to it which i like. And i really like the front on the outside especially the upper deck window which looks a bit like a cross between the old enviro 500 design and a plaxton president. Overally a better looking bus and actual competition for Wrightbus in terms of looks. Just a shame Southport and Speke are getting the old Crapviro 400 instead of an Enviro 400 Sad What they could change though is the shiny interior roof which looks cheap but I'm sure not all will have that. Also larger side windows like the HK Enviros would be nice Smile Also the matte finish on the rear would look better as the livery paint instead. The best looking part of the bus though is certainly the front. overall a good looking bus that will probally tempt a few loyal Wrightbus customers. Now its to wait and see what Optare reveal in the future.

I wonder whether this is one of the 29 due for Stagecoach Manchester?

Seed vehicle I would guess - like 10000 and 80022. All initial production E400MMCs will be bodied at Plaxton with Falkirk handing the remaining Euro5 examples (with the exception of Arriva's 'Sapphire' examples which are being constructed at Scarborough).

RE: New Enviro400
Apparently over 400 Enviro400-MMCs have so far been ordered. I know of those in service with Reading and Oxford-Brookes Bus, as well as those due for Abellio and Metroline in London. I understand that at least 10401-29 for Stagecoach Manchester will be MMCs. Do any of you know who has ordered the rest? Arriva and National Express have some on order, but I understand that at least the imminent Arriva examples for the North West and Yorkshire are traditional Enviro400 types.
