The 135 was only ever introduced to fill a gap in-between workings on the 137/138 so that the vehicles weren't sat idle for an extended period of time. I'd guess that by removing some journeys on the 135, they're hoping to strengthen the reliability on the main 137/138 services, which can be sketchy, by giving it some extra layover time but still maintaining some extra journeys to prevent returning to the situation pre the introduction of the 135 whereby there was a significant period of idle time at St Helens between every journey. |
