It does seem odd that the 20X is operated commercially at weekends. One possible explanation could be that Stagecoach hope that weekend revellers may use it as a much cheaper alternative than a taxi home as dawn breaks. My understanding is that, following the withdrawal of night buses several years ago, many weekend revellers now wait around in MacDonald's and the like for the first buses/trains out to the suburbs as taxis are as rare as hen's teeth after about 4am.
