Go North East
RE: Go North East
Forgot to add, the Enviro400MMC demonstrator left Go North East over the weekend, it was a fantastic vehicle and I hope the operator who now has it uses it to it's full potential. It ticked all of the boxes and was far superior to the Wright Streetdecks in just about everyone's view.

RE: Go North East
I wonder which double-deck type Go North East will order following these trials? I prefer the idea of Enviro400-MMCs.

Is that the same one First South Yorkshire were using a couple or so weeks ago?

I'm not sure sorry, the registration was YY64 GWX and it was in a blue livery with silver writing on the side. I gather it is now in Ipswich.

With the Wright Streetdeck's trial on service X21 coming to a close soon, it's next duties are rumoured to be on the back breaking ''Tyne Tees Express'' X9/X10 services between Newcastle and Middlesbrough. The Volvo B9TL/Wright Gemini 2s which were purchased in 2012 for the services are starting to sound rough and their performance has deteriorated (in my opinion) since when they were first new. It's one of those routes where it needs a heavy duty vehicle, it is also a very busy service. I can see some of those Oxford Tube vehicles on there. :P

I personally found the E400MMC was far superior to the Wright Streetdeck on the X21. It isn't an easy graft either, but the E400MMC just took it in it's stride. I think the Streetdeck is significantly lower in cost than the E400MMC, and it's all about costs and fuel consumption these days...

The ''indiGo'' branded Optare Solo SRs enter service tomorrow. Go North East have invited enthusiasts to see them replace the current MPDs on the routes at Peterlee Bus Station. I didn't read far into it.

The one used by First SY was YX64 VOO in a silver livery with blue writing. After demo work, I believe VOO is destined for East Yorkshire.

RE: Go North East
The ''indiGo'' branded Optare Solo SRs all entered service today. 8 of which were transferred to Peterlee depot (the outstation at which the services operate from) and entered service from the off, however 5 spent the night at Deptford depot, with a private photo shoot held at Crimdon Dene. Go North East had a VIP guest in the form of a young boy called Peter who loves buses, he was supplied with a full Go North East bus driver uniform and cut the ribbon to officially launch the new buses into service. It was no contest. I travelled on both and the Enviro was infinitely superior in all ways to the Streetdeck. The Streetdeck may be adequate for an urban stopping service, but is not suitable for a long distance express route.
