Something went on in Westhead this afternoon - not sure on what it was exactly, but it caused murder with the Wigans and the 311 as it set some buses back quite a bit. At about 14:45, Ormskirk Bus Station had three 311s (two Skem-bound, although one went out of service towards Skem, and one Liverpool-bound 20 minutes late - apparently, two 311s were missed-out before that one!) and several Wigan buses in there with many confused and angry passengers and drivers...!

What are Arriva supposed to do , miracously get buses out of the sky , Arriva will try and get buses in the correct places as soon as feasibly possible but it may take a few trips for that to sort itself out .

When services are disrupted the first necessity is to get one bus in each direction to the correct destination without turning short then the other services can turn short around them .

it was to do with a man being knocked off a bike (not sure which type) and he sadly passed away , and the police closed the road for a hour to 2 hours .

Thanks for that! I heard about this incident - very sad! I think that he was in his forties and was on a bicycle.

RE: Arriva North West - Southport Depot
Tracked down some of Southport's Marshalls today and was lucky enough to ride nine of them. 7664 and 7673 were inside Canning Road, didn't see 7648 but the rest were all out. Have to admit to being very pleasantly surprised - some of these are really decent. The clear highlights were 7654 and 7655, both of which were superb in all departments. These two, which I assume have spent the vast majority of their lives at Southport, have some nice original features such as almost all their Marshall marked glass and are very clean and tidy internally. The pair of these were near faultless which is extremely rare for Marshall Darts. The only major gripe with any of those out today was with 7643, which had a truly appalling idle vibration and rode poorly. Nevertheless, good to ride some impressive Capitals as they near the end.

Southport had some odd allocations as well - B7s 4102 and 4104 on the 43/46, 2728 on the 49, 2722 and 2723 on the 42/44. Two other B7s were also off the road at the depot, guaranteeing at least four subs on the 375/85.

313044 | 313064 | 313220 | 314206 | 314210 | 315809 | 315839 | 315857 | 507001 | 507002 | 507006 | 507008 | 507009 | 508114 | 508138 | 508208

Glad you enjoyed the darts today but you missed the best one 7656. Both 7654 and 7655 are now relegated to Pool buses.
2728 has had suspension issues for many months which is why it is mostly confined to Southport locals.

BTW Marshalls 7651-7656 have been allocated to Canning Rd since 3-6 months old so catch them while you can because they'll probably be the last in the fleet.

I seen 7652 passing through Bootle Strand out of service, guessing it was probably on a 300 as can't see it being on 47/48. The odd passenger was on board, this was about 16.10.

Thanks - it was a good day out. Went on 7656 which was one of a couple on the 49, but IMO it didn't compare with 7654/55. Not bad, but it wasn't as smooth a ride.

2728 actually rode very well to be honest despite its issues. It was significantly better than 2142 which considering its age was very poor indeed.
