Rather unusually, today's 17.13 Liverpool Central - Southport service was not worked by the unit replaced by the first Ormskirk six car. 507033 was the replaced unit, but 507017 which had been spare at Kirkdale turned up on the 17.13 instead.

Ther Grand National meeting wont have an effect on what units are put on what routes , one thing is for sure that all available units that are fit for service will be used during the course of the 3 days , this one of the times of the year that when a six car fails it will be replaced by just a three car if it isnt on the Ormskirk line just to keep as many Ormskirk services six cars. |

They can allocate units in a particular way if they so wish. It would be a good opportunity to showcase the new livery to those who may not use the train on a particularly regular basis.

Saw 508139 outside the depot with 507033 yesterday afternoon looking shiny. Another unit was in place for the same treatment at the time but didn't spot a nameplate through the glass. Arguably the two units which need re-vinyl most, 508104 and 508112, were stabled together in the carriage sidings at Southport! I think we can safely assume the six car services provided last Saturday were for the football, because nothing extra was offered yesterday despite the good weather. Not ideal.

Add 507003 to that list it looks very shabby outside with clear evidence of past graffiti attacks not all of it has been cleaned off it was on Ormskirks yesterday. |

507023 is in position to receive the new livery, but I wonder if they will put the re-livery on hold to maximise unit availability for the forthcoming Grand National meeting?
