Isnt an overhaul mileage based though as well , and this will have significantly less mileage than a lot of units as it was sat in Wabtec and then Kilmarnock. |

It is mileage based, but 507002 has done a normal level of mileage since returning to service in September when freshly overhauled. If this refresh programme is done in tandem with overhauls, then the most recent recipients like 507033 and 508130 will be the last units to be refreshed. Looking at mileage of 507/8s since introduction, 508122 and 508123 are very likely the units with the lowest mileage. These spent around eight years out of service when mothballed in the 1990s and were towards the end of the refurbishment programme.

It appears that work on the new livery has commenced. I passed Birkenhead North TMD and saw an unidentifiable unit inside the shed with the current vynal stripped. Does anyone have any more info? |

I heard a rumour that the new livery will consist of 2 colours and pictures relating to passengers activities. I also heard that it will be ongoing until summer 2015. |

Thanks for the confirmation, Merseyrail 507/508. 507011 is a good choice. Out of the 507s this has to be the scruffiest, although some of the 508s are worse. I don't suppose anyone can confirm the day 011 entered North for its re-vinyl? Last saw it on the Southport line last Tuesday working with 508128. Looking at this press release from Merseyrail, it implies the first few units will only be re-liveried, the internal enhancements following a few months later.

Entered Birkenhead North TMD on Friday - it was on the Ormskirk 6-cars in the morning. 507011 was unique in that it had its Merseyrail logo in a different place on the 64377 car to the rest of the fleet but as seen here - http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/46341292@N0...D_w_IS_all - it wasn't in the best external condition! Thanks again for the info, appreciate it. So, it looks like 2014 will finally be the year when 507007, 508103/104/127 lose their Liverpool 08 logos!

508110 failed early this afternoon on the approach to Bebington on a service to Chester . Services at a stanstill for approx 30 minutes. |
