RE: Merseyrail
Another two air con recipients are 508114 and 508138, both noted on the Ellesmere Port/Chester routes yesterday. Also noted 507013 outside Birkenhead North fresh from overhaul work. It should be 507021 or 507032 in next.

After a look at the timetable, some booked six-car trains didn't operate on the Ormskirk Line today. There was a notice on the electronic displays in Aintree about some journeys being operated by three-car trains - namely, the Liverpool-bound 16:50 departure from there.

RE: Merseyrail
When short of sets the ormskirk services seem to be the first to topple in the afternoon .

Recently during service pertubation at southport services have run as 3 cars rather than 6 cars , not sure how these services get made up from 3 to 6 cars .

RE: Merseyrail
It's worth bearing in mind that units might fail to couple or one could be faulty which can lead to short forming. The Southport one to my best knowledge is made of 2 units that were operating the service during the day, I think most of these are done this way. This can lead to short forming due to a train running a bit behind schedule even when there is ample time for the 6 car to be formed.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

RE: Merseyrail
2 units are on Polar Express duties, so, although there are still enough units to run diagrammed 6-car services, if one of the booked units failed, there may not be a spare available in the vicinity.

508104 has had the large M's applied, so has 508128 which has also had the aircon system applied.

507009 decided to disgrace itself between Capenhurst and Hooton on the 1715 Chester - Chester tonight , requiring assistance into Hooton by the following service , this caused considerable disruption to services on the Chester line.

I unusually got held at the old Upton station for 25 minutes because of this. Surprising how intact the station actually is.
