I went through on a hunts cross bound train last night and the train sounded its horn when passing through central then i spotted maintenance workers on the southport bound track just inside the tunnel south of central they were inspecting the points between the reversing siding and main track they were having to use torches as the tunnel lighting was not on.

Its amazing what you can do with a bit of money and imagination .

Liverpool Central's Northern Line platforms where getting close to design capacity at certain times of the day , I do wonder though how long it will be before more capacity is required again at Liverpool Central.

RE: Merseyrail
2013 looks to be a bit busier in the engineering work stakes than 2012 has been .

The one im more concerned about is Hooton resignalling , signalling work is always fraught with dangers , we all saw what happened with the IECC at sandhills when it was introduced on the Wirral line , the service was utterly devastated until they came up with a plan to replace TC's with axle counters , never mind the fact that James Street PSB worked perfectly with TC's around the loop.

Those turnbacks at Birkenhead Central / Birkenhead North are at the end of the refurbishment , that will have been going on a while by then .
