Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
Now confirmed that Stagecoach Manchester drivers have voted in favour of strike action.

The Unite Union have said strikes will take place on four consecutive days between 11th and 14th August (Friday-Monday). Strike action will apply to all Stagecoach Manchester depots (Wigan depot not included).

This adds to the strikes from First Manchester drivers at its Oldham depot, who are striking today (28th July), 31st July plus 2nd/4th/7th/10th/11th August. That will mean 5 days in a row in August will see strike action on part of the GM bus network and Friday 11th August will see both First and Stagecoach drivers on strike on the same day too.

The issue is if they agree to any changes to terms that could make the franchise maths not add up as the bids are worked with cost of labour. as what stopping Stagecoach or First giving out better terms knowing full well it not going to cost them but will cost others.

Spoke to a mate tonight who’s a Stagecoach driver. If they don’t reach an agreement with management before or after the first weekend of strike action they are planning to strike over the pride weekend. There’s major train strikes that weekend also so it could be chaos for commuters.

Also can anyone confirm whether Middleton will go out on strike? I believe they have already agreed to a separate pay deal but will they work or support fellow colleagues?

More strikes planned for Stagecoach and First with the bank holiday weekend and the first week after the summer holidays targeted with joint strikes. The aim is to cause some disruption to events such as Manchester Pride, Man Utd vs Nottingham Forest, Noel Gallagher at Wythenshawe and the start of the new school term.

First Manchester's Oldham depot and Stagecoach Manchester's Hyde Road, Ashton, Sharston and Stockport depots all on strike on the following dates:

25th-28th August (Friday to Monday)
4th-8th September (Monday to Friday).

Also, the strike on August 26th coincides with a rail strike too.

The strikes are being "postponed" due to a new offer.

The new Enviro400-MMCs at Hyde Road have mainly grey seats but just with blue seam rather than a blue ring that the 20 reg ones have.
