RE: Arriva St Helens Paint Shop & Repair Centre
4104 was long term VOR, and heavily cannibalised in the 2 years it was at Winsford VOR. Since then, it has had a new engine, a repaint and retrim, and has then sat once again VOR awaiting the time and parts to get it back on the road.
4100 has been VOR since November 2018, and as you rightly say, went to Birkenhead for MOT, but was found to be needing a lot more work than expected.
It is worth noting that last time I checked, there is a stripped 41** B7 at Speke too?
Mechanically, older B7s like the ex London ones do have a lot of differences, Im sure a mechanic might be able to note these differences in detail.

Not sure of any more logic behind the matter as I've no idea what 4104 is or had missing, but obviously somewhere along the line, somebody deemed it more appropriate to use 4100 as a donor rather than also put that back onto the road.

Hope this helps!
