Manchester bus franchising
RE: Manchester bus franchising
Does Tfgm has to issue permits to out of area services running into Gtr Manchester? as like take the 125 they could say no turn round at Horwich or you have to take our fare table and give us a cut.

Someone with a good memory will confirm that this was the case in Manchester.

In 1969 Liverpool and Manchester were in Lancashire, while Stockport and Birkenhead were in Cheshire. Wasn't the 'Greater Manchester' PTE originally called SELNEC, effectively making it a cross boundary passenger executive?

I suspect that routes such as the 125 and X43 will require some sort of agreement as is the case with certain London Buses routes that operate beyond the TfL boundary.

As for "Burnham", he has promised to see out his tenure as Mayor of Greater Manchester but I suspect that you will need to focus your attention elsewhere after that.

Yep pre PTEs, mostly Company buses, with Crosville in particular were heavily restricted into how they operated in Corporation areas often only being able to set own inward & pick up outward to/from a point on the edge of the Corporation operating area, when operating in a Corporation area. Wirral had a lot of waste because of Wallasey/Birkenhead & Crosville routes duplicating each other, that it took 10 years after the PTE was formed to finally integrate the old Corporation & Crosville services

Once the PTE came in, they did away with the restrictions, but created limited stop instead, Merseyside was Merseyfare branded stops were Crosville stopped

TFL has commercial routes into its area, they have an agreement to operate into the TFL area, most of the commercial routes are around Heathrow, & Uxbridge, although other commercial routes do operate to some of the other towns inside the TFL boundary

Manchester Evening News reporting that First Manchester have lost the Vantage services and that they will come under the new contracts won by Go North West.

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/...d-25865786

Also, seen online is a page from a document indicating which services that Diamond will operate from their new Eccles depot from September 2023, while explaining some details about services operating from Go North West's depots in Bolton and Wigan.

[Image: 5641d008-b6ea-4105-850a-84c12d2fb8fd-jpeg.4356600]

Looking at what's been reported, these could be the routes/operators in the Wigan and Bolton areas from end of September 2023. May be a question mark of what happens to some services currently operated from depots in Bolton by Arriva and Vision Bus outside of the Bolton and Wigan areas.

RE: Manchester bus franchising
Arriva have already made a decision that they would not be bidding for any tenders in the Bolton area. They’ve also stated that they will consider offers for the Bolton depot, alternative option is to close the site.

RE: Manchester bus franchising
Would commercial services run from outside the franchised areas that operate the same route as franchised services within the area have to change, ie services from Southport, Preston, Warrington or St Helens.

I thought the 362 was going to Stsgecoach in Chorley & not go north west
Also surly X39 would go to GNW

I also wonder if any queens rd routes such as 135 & 95, 97, 98 routes will move to Bolton Depot?

Nothing will change at Queens road until 2025. I wouldn’t have thought they could just move routes to another depot as it will no longer be up to them.

The 135, 95,97,98 will fall into the ‘city centre’ package.

It does seem a lot for Go Ahead to be running. Hope they're capable and there are smooth transitions etc. See what happens from 2025 anyway.
