Stagecoach Devon
RE: Stagecoach Devon
Just returned from a trip to Devon. Will be interesting to see if First stick around on the X80. I had Enviro400 33420 on it, all other vehicles seen where Tridents (Presidents and East Lancs)

Also of interest was the use of both DVG467 and UWV614S on the 100 by Riverlink Buses.

Well worth a visit to this area, many 'deckers to be had on interesting routes..

They're giving up on the X80/81 from 27 October, just had a holiday down there myself, planning a trip down there purely for the buses once the Gold Enviro400's are in service.

Expansion to Stagecoach South West on the cards with the takeover of the Plymouth operations of First from 6 September 2015, believed no vehicles will be involved though.

FIRSTGROUP plc MEDIA RELEASE – FRIDAY 10 JULY 2015

FIRST AGREES SALE OF SOUTH DEVON BUSINESS TO STAGECOACH

Bus operator, First South West, today (10 July 2015) signed an agreement to sell its operations in South Devon to Stagecoach. On completion of the sale, expected to conclude 6 September 2015, the Plymouth bus depot, outstations at Tavistock and Dartmouth and around 250 staff will transfer to Stagecoach.

Alex Carter, Managing Director of First South West, said: “Despite the focus on services and the hard work of everyone in South Devon, unfortunately the business has underperformed for a number of years. I’m pleased we’ve negotiated an agreement to sell and therefore help protect jobs and key services.

“The sale does not, in any way, reflect the commitment of our employees in the area who have worked tirelessly to provide the best possible service to local communities. I’d like to thank them for their hard work and loyalty over the years. We will be fully supporting them as they transfer to their new employer.

““We’re proud to have served the South Devon community and would like to thank passengers for travelling with First South West over the years. I can assure our customers that we will continue to run services as normal up to and including 5 September and will ensure a smooth transition.”

RE: Stagecoach Devon
Stagecoach will now effectively be the successor to NBC Western National and Devon General in Devon. Just an exhanced Plymouth Citybus will be in alternative ownership, namely Go-Ahead. I just wonder whether competition, most notably to Tavistock and Bude, will continue.

A Stagecoach Devon driver when I was on holiday in Barnstaple in 2013 thought Stagecoach were about to purchase Jackett's Coaches. This has not come to pass though.
