Changes to Bus Services - October 2012

LANCASTER SERVICES
1 Silverdale Shuttle (Leaflet 133)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the timetable, renumbering from Service L2.

Service 1 will continue to operate a circular service linking most parts of Silverdale village and provide connections to train services at the Railway Station.

The service will continue to run generally every hour during Monday to Saturday daytime with the timetable aligned with train departures/arrivals at Silverdale Railway Station where onward
connections are possible.

Silverdale will also be served by the proposed new Service 51 (see below for details), which will provide an hourly Monday to Saturday daytime local bus service direct through to Carnforth. A new two-hourly evening and Sunday service will also be available through to Carnforth and Lancaster.

Battersby Silver Grey will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

9 Lancaster - Primrose - Bowerham
18 Lancaster - Farms Circular
28 Lancaster - Scale Hall - Ryelands (Leaflet 134)

From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will introduce Low Floor Easy Access minibuses on these routes, ensuring the bus services are DDA compliant and more accessible to the communities they serve.

There are no changes to the actual routes or timetables and Battersby Silver Grey will continue to operate these services on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

5B Brookhouse - Morecambe (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, renumbering from Service 431. Service 5B will continue to operate between Brookhouse and Morecambe via Caton, Halton and Hest Bank.

The service will continue to run a single am & pm off-peak journey during Monday to Saturday daytime between Brookhouse and Morecambe.

A Low Floor Easy Access bus will be introduced on this route, ensuring the bus service is DDA compliant and more accessible to the local communities they serve.

Stagecoach in Lancaster will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

5C Carnforth - Morecambe (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, renumbering from Service 430. Service 5C will continue to operate between Carnforth and Morecambe via Crag Bank, Bolton-le-Sands and Hest Bank.

The service will run a single am & pm off-peak journey on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday daytime between Carnforth and Morecambe.

A Low Floor Easy Access bus will be introduced on this route, ensuring the bus service is DDA compliant and more accessible to the local communities en route.

The section of the current route between Silverdale and Carnforth will be covered by the revisions to Service 51 (see below for details) where service connections will be guaranteed at Carnforth to and from this area.

Stagecoach in Lancaster will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

33 Morecambe - Bare Circular (Leaflet 132)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, renumbering from Service 431. Service 33 will operate an anti-clockwise circular service from Morecambe via Branksome Estate, Beaufort Road, Oak Avenue and Marine Road.

This circular service will operate every 30 minutes off-peak on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis, with an hour break over the lunch time period.

Passenger surveys show that all customers were noted to be travelling through to Morecambe town centre and the increase in frequency from every 45 minutes to an every 30 minutes will represent a service improvement without inconveniencing any existing passengers.

A Low Floor Easy Access bus will be introduced on this route, ensuring the bus service is DDA compliant and more accessible to the local communities they serve.

The morning and afternoon journeys which currently extend to and from Brookhouse will be covered by new Service 5B (see above for details).

Battersby Silver Grey will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

50 Lancaster - The Kellets - Carnforth (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Stagecoach in Lancaster will revise the timetable operating all the daytime journeys on a commercial basis and continue to operate between Lancaster and Carnforth via Beaumont, Nether Kellet, Over Kellet and Windermere Road Estate.

The service will continue to run generally every hour in each direction during Monday to Saturday daytime between Lancaster and Carnforth, with certain Monday to Friday peak journeys operating to The Kellets as extensions to Stagecoach's Service 55.

Lancashire County Council will continue to subsidise the daily evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday service linking The Kellets with Lancaster and Carnforth as Service 51 (see below for details).

51 (Lancaster - The Kellets) - Carnforth - Silverdale (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable by extending the service to/from Silverdale, which will replace the Carnforth Connect Service L1 between Carnforth and Yealand Redmayne.

The service will continue to run generally every hour in each direction on Monday to Saturday daytime between Carnforth and Silverdale via Warton, Yealand Conyers and Yealand Redmayne.

A new two-hourly evening and Sunday service will be introduced extending the service through to Lancaster via The Kellets partially replacing the changes made to Service 55 at these times (see below for details).

The service will maintain connections, for villages north of Carnforth, with southbound train departures/arrivals at Carnforth Railway Station to/from Lancaster and Preston.

The Demand Responsive elements of the current Carnforth Connect will be revised as follows:

Leighton Hall
Experience has shown that difficulties exist in ensuring bookings are passed to the driver due to poor mobile phone signal coverage, which causes inevitable reliability issues.

To ensure a sustained level of service, the Demand Responsive element from Leighton Hall be replaced by four scheduled Monday to Saturday daytime journeys diverting to serve Leighton Hall.

Additionally, most Monday to Saturday daytime journeys returning from Carnforth to Silverdale will serve Leighton Hall on request.

Millhead Sand Lane

This Demand Responsive element of the service will be withdrawn. There have been no recent requests for this diversion.

Fell End Caravan Park
This Demand Responsive element of the service will be withdrawn. Surveys and checks show there have been less than a dozen passenger trip requests for the Fell End extension between
January and July 2012.

Stagecoach in Lancaster will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

55/55A Lancaster - Carnforth (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Stagecoach in Lancaster will revise the timetable to operate most of the evening and Sunday service on a commercial basis. They will revise the route and timetable of these Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday journeys to operate every hour in each direction between Lancaster and Carnforth only.

Stagecoach in Lancaster is not proposing any changes to their commercial Monday to Saturday daytime timetable. Lancashire County Council will continue to subsidise the last Monday to Saturday evening journey and the Sunday evening journeys.

Stagecoach in Lancaster will operate these journeys on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

The evening and Sunday extensions from Carnforth to The Kellets and The Yealands will now be covered by the revisions to Service 51 (see above for details).

55C Carnforth - Lancaster (STL leaflet)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, renumbering from Service 435. Service 55C will continue to operate between Carnforth and Lancaster Royal Infirmary via Crag Bank, Bolton-le-Sands, Hest Bank and Lancaster City Centre.

The service will run a single am & pm off-peak journey on Monday, Wednesday and Friday daytime between Carnforth and Lancaster.

A Low Floor Easy Access bus will be introduced on this route, ensuring the bus service is DDA compliant and more accessible to the local communities en route.

The section of the current route between Silverdale and Carnforth will be covered by the revisions to Service 51 (see above for details) where service connections will be guaranteed at Carnforth to and from this area.

Stagecoach in Lancaster will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

430/435 Silverdale - Carnforth - Morecambe/ Lancaster (Leaflet 132)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will withdraw these services and incorporate them into the new Services 5C/55C (see above for details).

431 Brookhouse - Bare - Morecambe (Leaflet 132)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will withdraw these services and incorporate them into the new Services 5B/33 (see above for details).

L1 Carnforth Connect (Leaflet 133)
From 29 October 2012 Lancashire County Council will withdraw this service and incorporate it into the new Service 51 (see above for details).

WEST LANCASHIRE SERVICES
311 Skelmersdale - Ashurst - Ormskirk - Liverpool (Merseytravel leaflet)

From 28 October 2012 Arriva Merseyside will revise the timetable, making minor timing adjustments throughout the route to improve overall reliability.

395 Wigan - Skelmersdale - Ormskirk (TfGM leaflet)
From 7 October 2012 Arriva Merseyside will revise the route and timetable to additionally serve part of Tanhouse Road, in Skelmersdale, on Saturdays. Tanhouse Road continues to be served by Service 312 on Mondays to Fridays.

BURNLEY SERVICES
1/1A/1B/1C Stoops Estate - Burnley - Pike Hill - Mereclough - Todmorden (BPT leaflet 71)
From 28 October 2012 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will revise the route and timetable, mainly adjusting the route at Stoops Estate end of the route to operate via Dalton Lane in Bleak House to partially replace the withdrawn Service 8 from this area. The Sunday journeys on Services 1B & 1C will be revised in line with this change (but not serving Dalton Street).

The evening journeys on Services 1B & 1C will be revised, to avoid the reversing manoeuvre on Billington Road, to instead operate a one way loop via Cog Lane, Accrington Road and Rossendale Road.

8 Burnley - Bacup (BPT leaflet 78)
From 28 October 2012 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will revise the route and timetable, returning the service to operate between Burnley and Bacup only. The Service 8 & X8 journeys through to Bury and Manchester as well as the Burnley to Bleak House section will be withdrawn. The area around Bleak House will continue to be served by adjustments made to Service 1 (see above for details).

Alternative services are available for journeys on the section between Bacup and Edenfield to Manchester by using the frequent services available to connect at Rawtenstall onto Service X43, or for journeys between Bacup and Bury by using Rossendalebus' Service 482.

Lancashire County Council is assessing patronage on the Burnley to Summit section to establish if a sustainable replacement service can be provided for Moorland Road and Glen View Road.

X43 Nelson - Burnley - Rawtenstall - Manchester (BPT leaflet 62)
From 28 October 2012 Transdev Burnley & Pendle will revise the timetable, making minor timing amendments to Monday to Saturday afternoon journeys to improve reliability. Also the 2230 Monday to Saturday journey from Manchester to Burnley will no longer serve Edenfield.
