If it was going to stop anywhere else it should be Newton-le-Willows, people from Chester/North Wales could change just once at a nice easy station like NLW, same platform interchange rather than having to navigate their way around Manchester. As it is, the TPE service runs 2½ minutes in front of the ATW service meaning that such a connection can't be made.

So if the service from Liverpool service is late , it will have to run behind the ATW service .
