Know what you mean, the later Palatines have a built on the cheap feel to them, especially compaired to the older CRE Palatines that have now been withdrawn. Only problem with the DLAs are lack of seats downstirs & there quite slow.

Some DAF/ALX400s are quite fast. Arriva Buses Wales' S278 JUA (4098) is excellent. It goes off the line just as fast as a Volvo/ALX400 - if not, faster! Not bad for its type!

I agree, some DLA's are quite quick, Bootle's 4082 springs to mind as being one but there are others. 4026 is another one I think.
