As I remember it the 400 was Stockport - Bolton and run till around 10 years ago. Bluebus then operated it for a short while but then gave up. The 401 was originally Wigan - Atherton - Bolton - Bury - Oldham then was rerouted via Westhoughton at de-reg, then re-routed away from Wigan and terminated at Bolton instead. then ended quicker than the 400. There was also a 402 which initially was Leigh - Atherton - Bolton - Bury - Rochdale and operated mainly by AN witrh an odd occasional working by RE depot. Later at De-reg this was used for a new route which was Warrington - Winwick - Newton - Leigh - Atherton - Bolton but this ended in 1988 and Warrington instead ran a replacement 419 between Warrington and Leigh only.
