Already reported by Railway Gazette in May (see post 119). They had to return the 350/2s by a certain date and it would have taken too long to train crews at the southern depots. Many Birmingham crews already signed a different subclass of the 730s, so the easiest way of releasing the 350/2s was to temporarily put 730s on Liverpool services.
