4575 was used on driver training today, spending much of its time parked outside the Eastbank Street offices. I did notice at one point it was having red tape applied to its rear ad frame, which seems a strange thing to do away from the depot.

Rode on both 4212 and 4107 on the 375/385 today. Let's just say the ride quality of the excellent ALX400 easily eclipsed the crashy and rough 4212. Those VLWs are best suited to school duties in my view.

4575's paint job also differs in a couple of ways from the Speke Enviro400s: the yellow stripe on the front end is missing, which to me looks a lot better. However, the skirt panel rivets/screws across the bodyside are unpainted silver, which looks a bit strange.

I'm assuming these admittedly minor differences are due to these being Scarborough built, as opposed to Speke's Falkirk built examples.

The nine new ADL E40D/Enviro400 deckers are finally in service today on route 375.
The £1.7m investment means each decker costs an average £188,888 per bus! Blimey!

4577 (YX64 VPR) seen this morning....

Rode 4579 & 4583 today, both very nippy, drivers seemed to enjoy the gas pedal!!

Went on the new Enviro 400s, really nice buses and tons better than the alx400s. passengers obviously like them as well Smile Also just wondering, what height are they along with the Speke ones and the older two versions at Bootle?

They're 13ft10.

I have to say that, from a drivers' point of view, they are a massive improvement on the B7s. A little sluggish off the mark, but once you get used to the ZF 'box they are very pleasant vehicles to drive... The lack of rattles from the fixtures and fittings is also a bonus!

4575 was the first one I drove today, and is seen here on Lord Street after having completed the trip to Wigan and back:- https://flic.kr/p/pCqtma

Thanks. Also what happens with the spare bus? Is it left in the depot or used on a diffrent service? And what will happen on a Sunday to the others that are spare? Are they used on other services or given a rest on that day?

They seem built for purpose - comfortable and rigid
