Merseyrail
RE: Merseyrail
I travelled on the Ormskirk line on Friday evening and was surprised to see not only a 507/508 working the service (507016 & 508137) but it being a 6 car.
Any particular reason why?
Not that I am complaining - a 6 car 507/508.
It wasn't even operating on a diagram which in the past used to be worked (in part) by a 6 car.

I was on it myself on Friday evening, it replaced a 777 that failed earlier and due to defects with the 507 and 508 in question they were coupled to make a good 6 car train

Did it come off Kirkdale depot as a 6 car or did it couple at Ormskirk do you know?

RE: Merseyrail
It seems the first passenger working of a class 777 on the Chester line, Saturday evening, running an additional service;

I believe 777003 was the unit.

Came off the depot as a 6 car due to the aforementioned defects

You’re correct about 777003, but it wasn’t in passenger service. It was a test train, testing the PIS system on the unit

Conflicting reports about this but the headcode a couple of photos online showing people on board would indicate 2T57 was indeed a passenger service.

The only people on board would’ve been those doing the testing

You were correct about this, I checked this out today and they did run it in passenger service to check the PIS. This is the first time they’ve tested trains with passengers. 777003 will now continue to operate a circuit on the Chester line. Apologies for the misinformation.
