Despite reports not so long ago claiming it's withdrawal Middleton's B7 16949 has finally received Stagecoach's corporate livery and will remain at Hyde road for use on the 168/169.
Got to say the pool of vehicles that are being prepped of for use on the 168/169 will make the service an interesting one. I just hope 18110/1 remain in use.

It begs the question, if 16949 is to be used on the 168/169 along with the two ex Maynes President Tridents also intended for the same service, could we see the two ex JPT B7's move to Hyde road for use as well?

Comments on the Stagecoach Enthusaists Facebook page suggest the Salford uni shuttle contract has now ended.

The 168/9 is an interesting one, because it has gone in recent years from B10Ms & Olympians (about 7-8 years ago mind now) through ALX400s which were new to Manchester and various other Tridents, to almost 100% Enviro400 operation and back through to having ex-London ALX400s and now the present situation.

Afaik we should have when everything is done:

16949 Volvo B7TL ALX400 (Stagecoach's only example afaik)
17612, 17175 Trident ALX400s
17698/9 Trident ELC Lolyne
18110/1 Trident President

As well as the odd Enviro400. So at least 5 different types on the 168/9. Suppose I'm lucky I get that bus every day and it passes near my house

When I was at college back in 2000/2001 I hated the 168/169 because it was so so boring. You were guarenteed a B10M or a Volvo Olympian. I often would wait for Maynes as you never knew what would turn up.
Plenty of variety now with an X50 branded Enviro400 on the 169 this afternoon!

I hope 18110/1 remain in the 'pool' of vehicles used and don't return to Bedford or another depot. There very comfortable, although my personal favourite is 17612. Despite it's tatty, yet comfortable interior it's a beast! Hopefully it will remain once all the younger tridents are done.

I think Joes got a bit muddled.
18290/91 are the ex Maynes president tridents.

They don't just stay on 168/169s though as I think it was one day last week I was on my way to work and spotted one of the ex Maynes Presidents out covering for a Magicbus on 142/143s in Piccadilly Gardens.

Question is how long will it be before the B7 ends up on something other than 168/169s as knowing HE allocation sometimes, it could end up anywhere

Yes I have. I did mean to type 18290/1 and forgot about all the others.
