Stagecoach MCSL - Gillmoss Depot
RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
I didn't say that people were using Arriva because of deckers but plenty of them do choose Arriva over Stagecoach. There may well be people who just want to get home but there are people who don't want to be left behind either so ultimately having deckers reduces this anyway. There is more to it on some services (evening frequencies on some routes are quite poor considering) but that's for another time. Anyway, as I said above, Stagecoach aren't the only company locally guilty of under capacity buses, outside of Speke and Laird Street there are a good few routes that could do with capacity increases. That's for another thread though.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

Do Merseytravel fares apply to all of Stagecoach Merseyside services?

As most Stagecoach Merseyside services are commercial, commercial fares are charged on most routes, only on Merseytravel contracts do Merseytravel's fares apply.

So most of the fares within Liverpool are staged rather than the £1.10 adult fares?

The Merseytravel fare is now £1.20 and 50p child.

Stagecoach Merseyside operate a flat fare on all of their own services inside of Liverpool, and Staged outside

Is there some reasoning for that fare set up , sounds like Liverpool commercial fares are being subsidised by the fares outside Liverpool being higher.

Its because of the amount of passengers that use the buses in the city boarders.
If large numbers use the services they can afford to lower the fares as they are still making the profit in the green where as if not as many people use a service then they have to charge a stage fare to make the service pay and keep the route profit in the green and not in the red as if it dont pay it dont stay as if profits go into the red on a certain route then it gets evaluated to see what can be done and if nothing can be done then the route gets terminated as its a buissness remember.

To add to that, most companies within Liverpool do this flat fare structure (It's something on the lines of):

Arriva = £2.20
Stagecoach = £1.90
HTL/Cumfybus = £1.80

I am aware that there is not the same fare structure in the Wirral which bus wise is very expensive in comparison.

I thought this was a revenue protection measure as it saved some of the potential aggro you could get from passengers who argued over the fare stages .
