RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North)
I do wonder how bad the fire damage is to 150118.

At the moment being one 150 short doesn't cause any problems , but it could in the long term though.

They said it would be moved by 6.15pm last night but that got changed to 2pm today (apparently partly caused by the engineering train in Ordsall) and the latest estimate is now 5pm today.

Lines have been closed in both directions through Knutsford so presumably they are trying to do something. The unblocked line was open most of yesterday and during the morning peak today and it allowed a couple of services to run towards Stockport on the wrong line (with delays.)

SLW working is very time consuming in man hours because of the nature of the operation.

In the area where the train failed how long a distance would the SLW have been in operation for , any significant distance could cause big delays .

Running no services between Altrincham and Northwich doesn't help Northern though as they are still running a Northwich-Chester shuttle and they have to get staff between Piccadilly and Northwich/Chester to be able to swap crews over.

The first Drax train appeared to get past. Theoretically Plumley to Hale would be the shortest SLW section but it may have been from Northwich to allow facing crossovers to be used. The later train ran via Chat Moss and Piccadilly, presumably being overweight for Miles Platting unassisted.

They tried to move it from Stockport to Newton Heath and it derailed near Newton Heath blocking the Victoria-Rochdale line. Sad

Yet another incident with 150118 has seen it de-rail once more this time on the fuel road at Newton Heath!

Cursed or what...

Wasnt the second derailment something to do with the wheelskate that 150118 was using.

It's been reported Porterbrook are looking at converting some 319s in to dual-powered DEMUs and if successful 4 would go to Northern and a larger batch could go to GWR.
