The Wirral has just been hit with high winds and sideways heavy rain , with hailstones to boot , a bit nasty out there at the moment . |

We had a bit of heavy sleet in St Helens around 9.30 this evening - seems to have turned back to rain though now. |

the wirral Borough council gritters are out on the road , but if it keeps coming and going like it is , the grit there putting down is going to be washed away. |
