[Archive] Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
I was on 3127 yesterday and did notice the advrtisement on the back. There is currently emergency gas works being undertaken at Birkenhead Bus station, due to this a number of services are diverted.Services which usually use stands 5, 6, 7 are diverted to stand 4 Services which usually use stands 8 and 9 are diverted to stand 10.

Yeah, it was quite congested in there earlier today, but merseytravel seem to have extra staff pointing everyone in the right direction

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
Last night they had buses from stand 7 going to stand 3 and stands 5/6 to stand 4 - that is when the staff remembered to point the drivers in the right direction - saw quite a few buses having to go round the block and back in again, and even saw a west kirby bound 437 which decided to stop at stand 4, despite the usual stand being open - maybe he got over excited!

It's mearly a loan until Green Lane gets it's share of cadets.
Paper destinationed buses in depots don't last too long! Laugh 2

TBF, I wouldn't be entirely suprised if it was something from Runcorn depending on the due date of the fleet numbered 5000's. But alledgedly its Spekes cadets.

Sadly Runcorn arent due to be rid of any more Cadets than they already have AFAIK, tis only 09 Pulsars leaving when the gas buses arrive. Apparently they want rid of more Cadets so they can keep 09s but its not happening due to people high up coming out with a truly ridiculous excuse for keeping Cadets!

On the 19/11/2012, DAF/Cadet X437 HJA (2437) was unusually on the 464:

Also, I managed to photograph DAF/ALX400 S266 JUA (4026) on the 471:

The last couple of weeks i've noticed the 423 heading to Liverpool has been avoiding Sandbrook operating direct via Hoylake Road, however the Avon 40/40A has been serving Sandbrook in both directions.

RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
The 423s are missing out the sandbrook towards liverpool because there are road works on the 1 way exit by moreton cross and apparantly its difficult for drivers to turn out... one driver i had forgot to miss it out and just about got out no problems in an enviro, but in longer wider buses such as pulsars it would be difficult so Mr Arriva has just said not to bother going around - probably could manage going around though anyway so a bit pointless!

Speaking of cadets 3111.. 2445 was on the 464 this morning - over the past week or 2 this particular duty (07:35 to NF from BBS) has commonly been a pulsar or more recently a cadet!

Also 2421 has developed an electrical fault where the interior lights keep flashing on and off and the water light keeps coming up on the dash, along with a nice high pitched beep - i know its common on these cadets for the interior N/S lights go off on some when slowing down if the gears arnt changing down properly to try and prevent them stalling (at least thats what the electricians say), but this one does it while accellerating so clearly a fault! Its just been booked off the 418s.

2433 is leaking exhaust fumes through the back seat - yes its nice and warm if your sitting above it but its covering the seat in soot and also a slight health risk id imagine if its on a quiet trip such as a late evening 118/9 where the doors arnt opened and windows shut.. Lets just hope VOSA dont call it off the road for one of their suprise inspections !

Luke
