1599 GKA24N - gka472l - 01/06/2015 16:23

Not quite preserved, but in use as a playbus in the Midlands. Took the opportunity on the way to a holiday in Devon to get some shots of the former MPTE 1599, in the hope it was in it's seemingly usual parking place on the A38 just outside Droitwich Spa. All taken on 24 May.

Very interesting. Originally a LS vehicle and one of the last to be painted in Wirral division colours IIRC. Is this still a runner or is it a static display? I'm assuming it's taxed and insured otherwise it wouldn't be allowed on the highway.

Seem the all lower bodywork really very badly damaged and very poor condition.

Get your hand in your pocket then if you think it should be saved. Not cheap owning a bus as ive found out

Aye, still taxed.
From the Gov.uk website....
1599 (GKA 24N) NEW 01-11-1974, TAX 01-01-2016, 11100ccDIESEL, BLUE.

Its obviously not blue (although it might've been some time ago), but it still seems to use the Leyland O.680 engine of 11.1 litre capacity.

As seen 24 years ago, St Johns Lane, in service with Merseybus....

Notice the Taxi Rank and lay-by on St Johns Lane, and the awful, ugly-looking Concourse House office block in the background on Lime Street.
I'm glad that's been demolished!Smile
