RE: D&G Bus - Rick Hunter - 06/03/2019 22:50

Only the 3 Sunday 288s have moved from Wincham to Crewe. However it is Wincham drivers using Crewe vehicles. At least it was this past Sunday. The Monday to Saturday 88/188 are still all worked by Wincham. Following a slight recast in the roster the 188 is now worked by different drivers. Difficulty covering Sunday work at Wincham may well be the reason for Crewe doing the new tenders. Most duties during the week are long ones, Saturdays are all 10 hours plus and many of the small band of drivers already work 6 days a week.

D&G site references some 88/188 duties being done by Crewe as well as some of the Handforth Dean shuttles but still states all 89 and 737 services are Wincham duties.

Think someone at D&G monitors this thread. 88/188 and Handforth Dean were changed back to Wincham only just after I posted that!

Yes only the Sunday 288 is operated by Crewe. You never know who is reading forums from company management.

Quite a few high up managers are active on another forum (Even using their proper name and opening ask managers threads). It's good to see. I do wonder if any management are signed up to the forum and post.

According to the latest repor from TFGM. Service 88 is to introduce a new evening and sunday service betweeen Altrincham and Wilmslow on a trail period - Funding to come from recuction to 288 Service

Service 88
Quote:In line with the reduction of service 288 journeys between Altrincham and Manchester Airport and to retain an hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Hale Barns it is proposed to introduce a new 2-hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Wilmslow for a trial period.
Operated by D&G Bus

Service 288
Quote:Due to the introduction of journeys of service 103 between Manchester Airport and West Side Cargo, evening variations on service 288 which currently divert in one directions only to serve West Side Cargo to meet specific shift times are no longer required and are proposed to operate direct via Runger Lane.
The passenger numbers (average of 2.67 per trip) on the retained service do not justify the retention of an hourly evening/Sunday service between Altrincham and Manchester Airport and it is proposed to reduce the service to operate every 2 hours, although the first journeys to and last journeys from Manchester Airport are retained as now.
To maintain the hourly service between Altrincham and Hale Barns, alternate journeys are proposed to operate as service 88 between Altrincham and Wilmslow.
Members are asked to approve the withdrawal of the route deviation of the 288 and the reduction of the evening and Sunday service to operate every 2 hours, with effect from 28th April 2019.
As part of a package of negotiated changes involving services 88 and 288 there are no financial implications on the subsidised service budget

D&G have won the 316/319 tenders as well. Another bit of extra work for D&G.
