The class 700 replace which stocks?

RE: Thameslink - childwallblues - 28/04/2016 12:02

Class 319 377/2 377/5 387/1 and 387/2.
319 will go to Northern (some) and South Eastern
377/2 and 377/5 to Southern
387/1 to Great Western
387/2 to Gatwick Express

I think it is confirmed that 12 class 319 will be going to Northern. I have some questions

1) Will it be class 319/0 or class 319/3 going to Northern?

2) How many class 319/2 and class 319/4 will go to South Eastern?

3) Where will the class 317 and class 321 go?

About the latter, my idea is that some class 319/2 and class 319/4 get transfered to Greater Northern to replace that class 317 and class 321 which in turn will go to Northern because at the moment it has 20 class 319/3 and some of them breakdown often.

ARN will be getting the 319/3 rather than 319/0

There are only six 319/3s left with Thameslink so six more from the other subclasses will be required.

The current interior specs shouldn't matter if the full refurbishment goes ahead, but the 319/2s have a much better interior compared with the other subclasses. I'd quite like to see the remaining six of these transfer north alongside the 319/3s.

It would make sense if ARN gets all class 319/3.

Since Arriva Rail North (ARN) doesn't operate first class services, I'm guessing that the other six will have to be from class 319/0 since they don't have first class facilities.

It would make sense to get 319/0 and 319/3 from what you say. However if the twelve due get a full interior refit it would not matter as first class would be removed at the time.

According to a post on RailForums the new Moorgate Trains will be Class 717
