The new trains will be maintained by Alstom at their existing depots, opposed to being maintained by CAF. The new CAF trains for Northern will be maintained by Arriva, so no new CAF depots.

I'm surprised at the Civity EMUs which had so far been marketed as more of a regional unit and I think it's a shame there's no tilt to utilise higher speeds on the WCML really.
There will be 12 5-car electric multiple units (EMU) and 13 sets of five-car InterCity carriages. I have some questions.
1) Will these new 12 5-car EMUS be similar to the ones for northern i.e. class 331/2?
2) Will some of the class 350/4 be cascaded when these brand new trains comes?

1. Same family of trains but modified design. The new TPE ones will be capable of 200km/h (125mph) and have a different nose design and different door layout. The interiors will also be different too.
2. The plan is for all the 350s and 22 of the 185s to be released once all the new trains are in service. The remaining 185s will be getting refurbished with new seats, wifi and media streaming servers allowing you to watch TV programs and films on board. They'll also get the new livery. No future operator is confirmed for either the 350s or 185s despite some claims that LM will take on the 350s.

What is the main difference between the 350/3 and 350/4 ?
If London Midland took them would they retain the 350/4 designation or be renumbered on to the back end of the 350/3 ?

The difference is that the 350/4 have 2+1 seats in first class while the class 350/3 have 2+2 seats in first class.

The /4s also have a 3rd toilet and storage facility for refreshments and the trolley which the /3s do not.

So the 350/4 have first class which is more in keeping with the type of work that they do , if LM do take them which has to be highly likely as no other operators have the 350 version of the OH desiro they would probably need there first class to be standardised with the rest of the fleet .

They look quite impressive from the mock-ups and surprisingly similar to the Hitachi AT300s. Pity about that shoddy livery though.
From reading the press releases, it appears Liverpool will see all three of the new stock types once they are all delivered. The Hitachi AT300s on the Newcastle/Edinburgh service, the CAF coaches on the Scarborough service and the CAF EMUs on the Glasgow runs.
Exciting to see the TPE franchise undergoing a genuine transformation. The 185s are unsuitable for Intercity services and have never been brilliant, frankly.
