Your correct the ban applies from 23.00hrs on November 24 .

“The enforcement action follows an initial investigation into an incident near Doncaster on October 2 2015, which found staff on-board locomotive 45231 had turned off its Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) isolation equipment, designed to apply an emergency brake if the driver makes an error.

It is quite amazing that this has happened again when the company is still recovering from the previous incident at Wooton Basset.

Im just wondering whether ORR will now allow WCR to ever operate steam again following this latest incident , once maybe forgivable , but twice there is no way back from this .

It seems that the ban only applies to steam locomotives that DO NOT have a locked TPWS system. 45407 and 61306 can and will still operate as before. Also 45699 and 46233 could also soon be operational.
From this it appears that WCRC have been making the improvements demanded by the ORR but rogue crews have not!

To be honest the first incident of WCR's was so bad for there business because it resulted in there suspension from operating there very important to them steam excursion programmes for there contractors .

The sheer fact that there excursion contractors have stayed with them once the suspension was lifted is what has kept them afloat at the end of the day.

No many other options if you want a steam locomotive.

This time im sure that the confidence of people with bookings will go , not helped by the fact that one of there main sources of income anyway the Settle and Carlisle has effectively been killed off by this major landslip at Eden Brows .

I see their Tour for 27th Feb is still showing as running, I wonder if they have found another company to operate the Tours for them?
