RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - SNL 824 - 21/09/2012 21:48

THe 500 changes seem like a real watering down of the concept of a convenient all hours rapid transfer into town. LPL has enough problems currently, it doesn't need any service reductions on either bus or rail connections.

'About every 12 minutes' is a ludicrous thing to have on a timetable... There is no way you could plan a journey during the day. Instead you just have to turn up at a stop knowing you could be waiting 'about' 12 minutes. Although to be honest, 12 minutes is optimistic to say the least sometimes!

At least there is a nice photo to look at on the timetable while you wait! lol

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - St Helens Rider - 01/10/2012 16:50

They have missed out the change of operator on the 152 (St Helens - Rainford) from Cumfy to HTL.

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - TenaciousJ - 01/10/2012 17:29

Still think the changes to the 75/ 78 are absolutely ludicrous. These services are incredibly busy for most of the day and reducing the frequencies is going to make it hell!

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - wirralbus - 01/10/2012 20:57

Sounds like the 78 is being reduced to a point where the passengers start finding other ways of getting to there destinations , dont be surprised if it disappears in the future .

It's about time other operators started running some of these (as HTL did with the 75 until 2008) to fill in gaps throughout the day

I can see this happening eventually too, which is stupid considering this bus links several places that other services do not. Arriva has already withdrawn other services like this such as the 86B and 77, eventually it'll end up just being the 75 on its own!

Exactly! I remember HTL used to run a few in the morning and afternoon that helped to alleviate some of the congestion and the route 75A helped to make the Ullet Road corridor a bit calmer! Not sure why their services were withdrawn!

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes - buses7675 - 02/10/2012 09:28

I'm not sure exactly why the HTL 75A (and 10B) were withdrawn but they began operating the 166/188/266/288 Garston Circulars commercially daytimes from the same time so maybe it was just a case of the Garston Circulars were more profitable then the other routes.

Maybe one day someone else will operate the 75 and/or 78 as well as Arriva! The best time for the 78 (frequency wise) was around 2003-5 when Arriva operated a 15 min daytime frequency and GTL also ran it every 30 (or was it 20?) mins!
