A question that I have wanted peoples opinion on. What is your favourite jet engine on a commercial aircraft. Mine are the Rolls Royce RB-211, the Pratt and Whitney PW4090, The GE CF6'S and the CFM 56. In that order too.

Definitely the RB211 on a 757 for me. Horrendously overpowered but that's just what makes it! The CFM 56s certainly pack a punch on the 737s too, they're like little pocket rockets.

RR Trents are cool

For me it's the Lycoming ALF 502 used on the BAe 146

The 787's engines are very quiet. But yeah, the RB211's are the best! Worst is possibly the PW JT8D's on the old 737-200's. Very unreliable although did generate one hell of a racket!!
