The majority yeah but the 408 and 41 were to be retained by MCT..

Cheers for that, is their many buses going to be joining Powell's then?

Some of the enviros are going yes and 5 of the white hybrids. The other 5 are for a new project.

The two older darts are going into preservation.

Most of the tfgm hybrids are to be scrapped!

Can’t see it. Nothing we have would meet their standards apparently.

Is that actually confirmed by TfGM? Would seem strange to scrap a bus that's only really half way through its life, while overhauling sister buses of the same batch (The Ex-Metroshuttle 2's). While the vast majority of them are knackered TfGM didn't seem to be bothered when they were with an operator, don't see why they would be bothered passing them onto an operator who is being payed to use them. There is a lot of routes being picked up by operators who are going to need additional buses to run them.

If schools are closed then there will be a lot of spare buses and drivers. Also, sadly, taking on MCT contracts may turn out to have been a great mistake.

Yes only 3 of the batch we have have been offered to other operators the rest are past their best. Sadly TFGM want to pay Optare peanuts to maintain them and the results speak for themselves.
Classic example is YJ11ENP which went down to Optare to have a side panel replaced, it’s returned with the loose panel still there just gaffer taped on. Need I say any more!

And incidentally YJ60KCX was recently overhauled by Stagecoach is now sat at Optare being canablised at Trafford park.

Surely if an operator has a school contract they must have a vehicle and driver ready to run it as soon as schools reopen (on an unknown date.) Although, while they are closed the driver who should have done the school run can easily be used to fill in for a sick/self-isolating driver (presuming that driver isn't sick/self-isolating.)
