Alexander RH L971 MSC (0806) was unusually on the 52A yesterday evening! I managed to get a photo of it:

Like the look of that! Think the colour scheme of the new livery would suit a Optare Tempo SR well

Maybe a trident was off the road and it was covering for that nice to see some older buses still earning their keep.

I was lucky enough to get a ride on this 1994 Volvo Olympian from Kirkdale down to Whitechapel on Saturday.

It's still got its dual-doors fitted and its obviously being used as a School Bus (lap belts fitted, rubber protectors fitted to seat handrails). The seats are very comfy, but the interior has got the battle scars of a hard life (this is to be expected on an 18 y.o. bus).
The downstairs gangway is shockingly narrow and NO WAY would you get a baby buggy on board without folding it before you board (steps fitted too).

The overwhelming impression I got from 0806 though, is the fact that it feels rock solid, like its made out of very strong metal. Modern buses just feel flimsy, cheap and weak in comparison.

SPD S80 BUS (0705) was unusually on the 52A yesterday - all day, too, rather than just on one duty (morning or afternoon). I managed to photograph it in the morning:
