Anyone know why there was a kendal trident in the coach park near morrisons (morecambe) today?

One cut is to cease funding completely subsidies to bus services - £1.343m to bus operators. The full list of services subsidised is at http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/eLibrary/Content/Internet/535/3081/41563165249.pdf which shows service number, route, district (i.e local council), operator, days, cost of subsidy, no of passengers, cost per passenger. Some abreviations used are SCC=Stagecoach, A=Allerdale Council, B=Barrow Council, C=Cop=Copeland Council, Car=Carlisle Council.

Stagecoach appears more often than all the other operators listed put together.

There is now an update on the Cumbria County Council website - http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/roads-transport/public-transport-road-safety/transport/publictransport/busserv/whatschanging.asp

Over 80% of the proposed cuts have a statement "There is no decision on the future of this service and it will continue until further notice".

RE: Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire - enrag2000 - 17/07/2014 16:03

All the new Enviro200s 37086-126 are now in service at Carlisle and Dart SLFs have become a rare sight on city services. Apart from 34715-19 which should be staying, the only Dart still in service is 34707 which is currently on the 301/600 services, outstationed at Lillyhall. 34715 is in for repaint and the other four are usually on the 93/38 and the Annan town service as well as covering for Enviro200s on the city services - the Alexander Dennis van is a regular visitor to Willowholme doing warranty work. The 76 service has now lost its Darts and is covered by the Enviro200s. 22269 is currently the regular bus on the 520/94/97 with 22149 as spare both for this and for city service.

20219 and 22160 are still at Penrith but that should change after tomorrow when the schools finish. Parked up at the side of Carlisle garage are 22139/143. 34219/221 and 20944/965. 22134/137 are now at Dumfries as extra vehicles were required there following James King's loss of licences.

So everything is starting to quieten down now after a hectic couple of months!

The County Council update is a bit misleading as only the subsidised mid-morning Monday to Friday journeys will be withdrawn and the early/midday/afternoon journeys will continue as at present. Many of the other changes depend upon whether Cumbria will continue to subsidise the winter services or expect Stagecoach to run them commercially.

Ex-MagicBus Olympian 16793 is in for repaint at Carlisle after running in blue livery at Lancaster since late last year.

Is that 20457 on the bike bus route? Seems to defeat the object of having a specified 2 bikes in the timetable and then putting a PS on there...

Didn't see either 22121/41 whilst I was there.

RE: Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire - BHA - 14/08/2014 12:40

Had an away-day yesterday to Carlisle to catch up with the new Enviro200s and had a successful day - managed to see them all. I did a bit of homework before going and estimated the PVR of the local routes. I came up with 5 on the 60, 10 on the 61, 6 on the 62, 9 on the 67/68, 1 on the 69 and 5 on the 76, a total of 36. One of the 'previous' Darts 34707 was working the 69 and 22149 I saw several times on the 67/68. So that left 34 out of the 41 on local routes though I saw 35 - changeovers accounted for this with 37111 appearing on the 67 around luchtime and 37107/12 being seen on 2 separate routes while I was there. In addition 37114 was on the 79 and 37118 came in on the 93 and shifted to the 38 along with 37108 and 37119. 37087 and 37123 seemed to be in the depot all day.

From observation 37086-8 are branded for the 60, 37089-91 for the 76, 37092-7 for the 67/68, 37098-102 for the 61 and 37103-5 for the 62. All branded buses were on their allocated routes. 37106 is in the bright yellow/orange for the Youth Zone and 37107-26 are not branded other than the standard 'Serving Carlisle since 1921' strap-line. They all looked very smart and clean.

Of the old Darts, in addition to 34707, I saw 34716 on the 600 and 34718 in the depot. There were one or two others in the depot but not identifiable. Other observations were London 18202 ( I think previously reported ), 16776 on the 685 shorts ( 47921 having a day off in the depot ), 24118 replacing 27767 on the 685 ( 27767 being repaired over the pits ) and all of 15920-3 running on the 300. I only saw 5 buses of the 79/179 out of a PVR of 6 - I did not see 24123 out of the 9 MANs and wonder whether this was having problems somewhere out on the road to Annan and Dumfries ( the 1250 arrival/1255 departure was the missing link ). I saw the other 8, 4 on the 79/179 ( with 37114 ), 2 on the 104 (along with 'deckers 18361/5 ), 1 on the 685 ( along with 27766 ) and 1, 24124, over the pits. So from elimination 24123 was missing.

Apologies for all the detail. If any of you Cumbria-based correspondents have any observations on any of this I should be most interested.
