RE: Merseyrail - Y458 KNF - 29/12/2023 12:58

Are any 777s on the West Kirbys today?

RE: Merseyrail - 508134 - 29/12/2023 22:25

Does anyone know whether there are any planned 507/508 workings on the Chester & Ellesmere Port lines on New Years Day this coming Monday, given it will be a Sunday timetable?

Looking at RTT, it appears this Sunday (31st December) is the final day for booked 507/508 workings on the Chester & Ellesmere Port line (unless some diagrams are booked for 507/508 working on New Years Day)?

How can you tell using RTT were the 507/508 are operating?

Since Merseyrail are not part of 'know your train' feature on RTT, the unit numbers do not show on the site.

You can get an idea of whether its a 507/508 based on previous sightings and workings out the diagram based on the headcodes, but this is not 100% accurate.

Good front from the three remaining 508s today, with all three working. 508114 & 508104 as a 6 car on the Southport - Hunts Cross line and 508108 as a 3 car on the West Kirby line.

So in a way it is just guesswork anf hope.

RE: Merseyrail - N304CLV - 01/01/2024 14:17

Interesting to see 508108 still out today on the West Kirby.

508114 is also in service today on the Southport line (1857 Southport - Hunts X), with the third remaining 508, 508104, stabled at Southport platform 1 for service tomorrow. Absolutely great to see and a few people on other forums, completely adamant the 508s would not see use in 2024, are proved wrong.

Also, working out where stock finishes using RTT is not guesswork and hope. I've used RTT in this way countless times and it usually works out. It just needs punctiliousness and patience.

Personally, I'm glad Merseyrail unit allocations are not on there as tracking individual sets down is part of the fun. I have ridden on at least two carriages of all 217 PEP-derived units and every 314, 507 and 508 carriage (except one of 507022 and two of 508118) without relying on TOPS or RTT allocations even once. Not everyone's idea of fun for sure, with plenty of frustratingly elusive units, but I enjoyed it.

I believe there is another scrap move scheduled for next Monday, unsure which units yet

RE: Merseyrail - 507022 - 02/01/2024 19:18

The scrap move next Monday has been put back a week to the 15th Jan

Any ideas on which units are next for withdrawal?
