A PA announcement added weight to the suggestion, mentioning the "platform alteration". In the event, however, 507010 trundled in as usual on platform 6 cueing a mad dash for a fair number of passengers over the bridge. Once the staff had been informed, they moved to delay 010's departure until we had all boarded. An odd and needlessly stressful experience.

On saturdays only from 13th October to 8 December 2012 , the 1743 Southport - Hunts Cross will terminate on arrival at Liverpool South Parkway and the 1851 Hunts Cross - Southport will start at Liverpool South Parkway at 1854. This is to allow Autumnal treatment to be undertaken on the track between Liverpool South Parkway and Hunts Cross to be undertaken.

It seems that the CIS at Liverpool South Parkway were programmed incorrectly for that week noted by 507009.

There is some alterations to wirral Line services on 14 October 2012 due to the Mersey Marathon starting from Birkenhead Park at 09.30 .

The first Birkenhead Park train will depart from Moorfield's at 06.46 and operate every 15 minutes.

The first train from New Brighton will depart at 0653 calling all stations to Liverpool and will then continue to run at 30 minute intervals.

Due to preplanned engineering work a rail replacement bus service will still be in operation between Birkenhead North and West Kirby .

508114 is quite possibly the worst train on the entire network. It sounds and goes terrible and was one of a number of trains to have a defective door on Sunday.

How long is it now since the first sets were refurbished down at Eastleigh.

The first sets that went for this refurbishment had been stored so i would have expected these 508's to be nearing some remedial work by now is 508114 one of them I wonder ?

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 09/10/2012 16:27

508114 was one of the earlier refurbs, released from Eastleigh on 18/06/04. Today it has patches of bare metal externally, a scruffy and quite badly vandalised interior and worst of all, a rough and very squeaky ride. Some of the earliest refurbished sets, e.g. 508108 and 508127, still look clean and tidy internally despite around 9 years since their facelift.

For the record, 114 wasn't one of the mothballed sets. These were 508108/110/120/122/123/131.

RE: Merseyrail - 507 mad - 09/10/2012 20:46

this afternoon i could hear the MPV going past hightown at about 18:09hrs going towards Liverpool, then an ECS at 18:26hrs going towards Liverpool.

and i've seen a couple of sand marks on the tracks at Hightown and Formby from the leaf blasting.

I still think that 508130 is worse than 114. God I hate 130!

What don't you like about 130? I haven't actually had the 'pleasure' of that for a while, but in fairness it does look presentable at least. Not sure if you've tried 114 recently but it was truly terrible on Sunday evening. One to miss!

RE: Merseyrail - jtd508110 - 09/10/2012 22:37

Interior is tired, doors take 5.6 seconds to close after hustle alarm stops ( yes I've timed it!!! Wink ) and its is generally slow, sluggish and boring. Last time I rode 114 was a week (ish) ago and it wasn't brilliant, but was acceptable.

508117 on west kirby am 6 car with 508139. Under body of 117 looks nice! It also has similar traction motors to 507023 with the whining at low speeds!
