Theres been issues all afternoon beteeen Chester and Hooton, due to a track fault

RE: Merseyrail - MX12CFE - 21/08/2017 06:32

Disruption on the Hunts Cross line last night due to vandals throwing objects on the line between Aigburth and St Michaels in two separate incidents in the same place in the space of one hour. Trains were suspended between Hunts Cross and Liverpool Central with replacement buses laid on.

RE: Merseyrail - knutstransport - 03/09/2017 09:34

Merseytravel Chief Executive, Frank Rogers:
“Keeping a second member of staff on the train, unnecessarily, will cost over £5m a year or £200m over the life of the new trains - money that could be much better spent on other key priorities across the city region. Interestingly suggestions from the RMT to fund the guards included putting up fares for passengers significantly over and above RPI incremental rises, extending the length of the existing Merseyrail Concession, or asking the Combined Authority to borrow an additional £200m, almost half the total cost of the new trains project - all options that are unpalatable, unworkable and unnecessary."

A bit hypocritical from the RMT - we protest against fare rises but if jobs are at risk the passengers should be made to be pay more.

RE: Merseyrail - WAITING FOR THE 437 - 04/09/2017 21:49

The jobs aren't at risk! They will be re-deployed on the same rate if pay!

The union's line will be "so where does the £5million pound saving come from?"

The guards are supposed to be at the front of the queue for any trainee driver roles. Any guards who leave between now and when DOO is introduced (including those who become drivers) will apparently be replaced by new guards on fixed term contracts, meaning only those employed before the DOO announcement will be guaranteed to be redeployed.

Does anyone have any idea what staff retention levels are usually like with Merseyrail staff?
