In my opinion the Ellesmere Port Line could work with a shuttle service between there & Hooton & extending to Liverpool in the peaks and run them into platform 1 at Hooton but the timetable would need looking at first and public consolation on the matter. My timetable for it would be from the first train to Ellesmere Port to about 09.30am would run direct to Liverpool (like now) and 09.30am to 16.00pm would run as a shuttle between Hooton & Ellesmere Port and 16.00pm to 18.30pm would run to Liverpool (like now) then other times would be direct Liverpool services (weekends & public holidays etc)

I would like to hear what other people have to say about that , I don't think it can be changed except under special circumstances as im sure a Liverpool to ellesmere Port service is a franchise commitment , hence it having to be squeezed round the extra Chester service , which to be honest was needed .

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 27/12/2014 23:34

Had a go on a rare semi-fast Southport train today thanks to signalling problems at Aigburth. 508128 + 508122 formed the late-running and absolutely rammed 17.21 HNX - SOP which after Sandhills called only at Waterloo and Formby. All of the Southport services (and two of the six Chesters) were six cars, presumably due to the sales - it was a busy day on the network today.

507029 is the latest unit to receive the new livery, following on from 507013. This leaves the following still in old colours: 507004/007/008/009/024/033 and 508104/112/125/127/131/134/140.

Oh not a good day for the Chester service today as two sets of six cars had to be broken down today due to unit faults .

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 28/12/2014 20:55

Several units have suffered from graffiti attacks over the last few days, presumably during overnight stabling in Birkenhead. 508110, 508120 and 508130 were all running with tags today.

RE: Merseyrail - WAITING FOR THE 437 - 05/01/2015 22:15

Hi some old footage of Merseyrail in 1989 found on You tube. Not sure how many of the 508's ended up back down south.

Hope you enjoy. I did!

Great video enjoyed watching it spotted 508102 in the last minute of the film which was one that went down south this unit is sadly no longer with us as it was coverted to one of the three 508/3s but think these 3 have now been scrapped unless anyone knows different?
