I am led to believe in the end the 15 min service was cutback to 30 mins in the end because so many crews for the Southport line have to book on at southport and would have to be ferried from Southport to Hall Road .

This isnt the first time though that there has been electrical problems on this section of line beyond Hall Road to Southport , think both Merseyrail and Network rail want to know what the root cause was this time , it really couldnt have happened at a worse time with the Southport Flower show being on , you can see a few disgruntled people complaining .

James Street is closed on the advise of the emergency services as the potential for over crowding is high and the presence of a stage in Water Street precludes the use of that entrance / exit .

Surely it would be better for the emergency services, as a safety issue, to tell the organisers to move the stage from Water St to a more suitable location, there must be many other sites which could be used.

their were these disgruntled passengers wanting to board S369 JUA to southport doing the stopper service but why couldn't they wait an extra 5 mins for the formby coaches non stop to southport. i got a very rare photo of one of the red selwyns travel central replacement buses at hightown, and a few shots of the rare turnaround at hall road including ML90 on green!! first service to southport when the line resumed was 507006+508140, and i thought something had happened when i saw 508103+508134 at kirkdale depot, i wonder what it would be like to be stuck on the train.

any news on 507002

RE: Merseyrail - N271CKB - 19/08/2012 20:51

Don't know anymore than to say it was outside the front of Birkenhead north depot around 17.30 this evening.

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 19/08/2012 22:05

Saw 507002 outside Birkenhead North earlier this evening. I assume a return isn't far off now. Also just about visible inside the shed was the blue advertising livery of 508111 which is currently receiving its periodic overhaul. This, 507002 and 507012 are the three long-term absentees which should all be back in service imminently.

Things ran much, much better on the Southport line today although the passenger levels were a bit lower than yesterday. Presumably the poor weather in the morning put off some visitors, although the Flower Show site seemed packed out by the afternoon. One unit sounding a bit weak however was 508138, sounding virtually silent while being hauled by 507027 towards Southport. On the return journey, 508138 headed the formation and ran a few minutes down despite a clear run from Southport and a light night-time load. 507027 was instead in rude health, a lively and quick set.

507009 would you be able to set up a link on the forum for the video of 507008 & 507009 leaving hall road on the down southport line, much appreciated.

will 508111 have a full unit repaint when the beatles story advertising contract runs out in october like the ex capital of culture units even though the vinyls can be peeled of.

Southport services subject to disruption due to signalling problems in the hall road area .

Seems the Southport line is suffering of late .

RE: Merseyrail - 507022 - 24/08/2012 23:48

Liverpool Central Wirral line is re-opening this morning

RE: Merseyrail - wirralbus - 25/08/2012 02:05

James Street platform 1 closes from September 3 , the reason it doesnt close any earlier after Liverpool Central re-opening is because of the tall ships event , next weekend.

RE: Merseyrail - V671 DVU - 25/08/2012 09:18

They've timed that well haven't they, just in time for Mathew Street.
