Do bus drivers get an enhanced rate for bank holidays?
Merseyrail pay double time only on New Years Day hence the Sunday service on that date.
Bus drivers usually get atleast 150% of their wage per hour for Bank Holidays (depending on operator) and around double for services such as Christmas day.

An improved showing from Merseyrail yesterday with 6 cars on the Southport - Hunts Cross workings, while the Southport - Liverpool services were mainly 3 car.

RE: Merseyrail - wirralbus - 02/06/2014 15:29

On a sunday how many sets out of the full quota do the full route from Hunts Cross to southport and how many do what is in theory the additional Liverpool - Southport service.

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 02/06/2014 15:35

Requirement is 9 formations in total, with 5 doing the full Southport - Hunts Cross and the remaining 4 the Southport - Liverpool Central workings.

RE: Merseyrail - wirralbus - 03/06/2014 20:29

On a Sunday does the service interwork between the full route and the short route on the Southport line .

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 03/06/2014 20:36

They don't interwork in normal practice, but occasionally formations swap duties at Southport. I believe 507001 + 507029 swapped from Hunts Cross to Liverpool Central workings during the course of last Sunday.

This morning there was a few disruption , one on the Northern Line affected services between Leeds St Bank and Liverpool Central , the other on the Wirral line was a failed train on the Liverpool side of Hooton Station.

RE: Merseyrail - MX12CFE - 08/06/2014 14:36

Just been told by a member of the public in maghull that the trains are off due to a points failure seen nothing on merseyrails website. I was waiting fro the 210 to ashworth on old house lane at the time and it did not show up neither did the journey towards Liverpool.

RE: Merseyrail - wirralbus - 08/06/2014 15:30

Yeah there has been a points failure at Walton , for a short while the Ormskirk services where diverted to Kirkby to keep the line clear , usually this happens the other way round with Kirkby services diverted to Aintree.

Strange allocating today with 6 cars on the New Brighton line. Was there some sort of event on? Capacity completely wasted from the formations I saw leaving town this evening.

Meanwhile, everything else was 3 car, including Southport - Hunts Cross, which has had six cars for the previous four Sundays in a row, and the Chester line, despite the Chester Rocks festival taking place. The Ormskirk/Kirkby trains, when they were actually running today, were packed as usual.

Weather has been good today, easily warranting six cars on the busier limbs of the network (i.e. not New Brighton).
