The poor unit got torn apart by the wreckless thugs. Celling panels broken aand pulled down, newspapers, shards of glass, alcohol scattered over the seats and floors, seats and seat covers trashed! And I doubt many of them had tickets. The guard did a great job in dispatching the train safely and was assisted by an off duty guard from Kirkdale who stood further up the train and gave the thumbs up. I feel on these dutys with a vast number of drunken people, a second member of train crew should be used to assist the guard on duty with pre-planned events like this

How is 507002 now has it been repaired? i take it wouldnt have been in service yesterday?

507002 was available for service on Friday , all sets would be needed in one way or another due to the Southport Flower Show enhanced six car service .

507002 was on the Southport line today paired with 508140. It still had a few battle scars showing from its night on the West Kirby line, with what looked like shoe scuffs on some of the ceiling panels and a number of seat covers scruffily pulled away from the base. Rode very well though, at least.

507020 was on the West Kirby line today having suffered a bad graffiti attack. It looks certain to lose one of its 'John Peel' stickers as one was engulfed by spraypaint. Judging by how fresh the graffiti looked, I assume it was done overnight at West Kirby; certainly, it was graffiti free when on the Northern Line last Thursday.

RE: Merseyrail - wirralbus - 18/08/2013 19:23

I do think sometimes when it comes to Graffiti attacks that the unit shouldnt be used in service with it on .

This just fuels the graffiti artists desire to graffiti more just giving them the oxygen of publicity.

Hard as it may seem as there is a high possibility of short formed services in the interim.

West Kirby station is an easy target for vandals. More secure measures should be put in place. There was an example of a tag during a farewell service in London recently. The LU A stock farewell was somewhat marred by a tag to the rear of the train whilst on the tour. Some believe it was actually done by an enthusiast. I dread to think how they would remove graffiti from the "wrapped" livery units

Liverpool Lime Street Low Level reopens on Thursday after being closed since April.

I believe the wrapped units have a protective layer, so theoretically it shouldn't damage their bodywork as severely. The Capital of Culture advertisers were the same as 507033 was seriously graffitied at one point but came off looking respectable.

That is good then! I believe some work has been done to the ticket hall at Lime St too.

On a separate note, a lot of the ex-MR 508's have been scrapped at Eastleigh in the past few months. 508205 being the latest to bite the dust Sad

RE: Merseyrail - H101GEV - 24/08/2013 20:34

508111 was on the Kirkby line today, back in service after an absence of a few weeks.

All Southport and possibly all Chester trains were formed of 6 cars today, presumably due to the LIM Festival. Up to 54 units in traffic today then, so no current shortages. I do think that every other Chester should have been 3 car today to help double up some Ormskirk line services which were packed throughout the day. Having a 6 car which is followed by a 3 car seven minutes later seems superfluous for the Hooton - Liverpool section. I would expect everything to be six cars tomorrow.

You are correct 507009 , all Wirral Line services are going to be six cars and Northern Lines from 09.00 will all be six cars .

Lets see if the revised Liverpool International Music Festival decreases traffic from previous years , will be interesting to find out .
