I was planning to ride the 13.30 and got there just after 13.20 and the bus was already full on top so decided to give it a miss as didnt see the point in riding on the lower deck. Had left Southport by 15.00 so couldnt try then but will make sure that I get there early next time and take a ride.

Thanks to everyone who came for a ride. And don't forget we'll be back next Sunday (and the subsequent three), same times same place Smile.

Finally, here is a picture of both Atlanteans on Southport Promenade, creating a scene from years gone by:- http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevin_rowe/7669899262/

Indeed, today was a great start to the season. Thanks for your help today as well.

We had a few minutes to spare, so thought we'd add a bit of variety to the route... Creative license and all that!

We did finally manage to unlock the bike lock, the dubious positioning of the code numbers seemed throw us off lol. I guess that makes it more secure!

Both 1449 & 1551 look amazing, think I'll have to have a trip up to Southport in the next 2 weeks. This has got me thinking......has the fate of 1524/1612 even been confirmed, last I heard was that they were stored in a truck yard (or something similar) in the New York area after export to the US, but that was several years back.

Thanks!

RE: Merseyside Transport Trust - V671 DVU - 30/07/2012 13:24

I found this picture of 1612 over in Arizona, looking rather un-loved. According to the photographer, it's still there. 1524 seems to have disappeared completely, but I remember that was for sale on a website a few years back in it's withdrawn condition. Still in it's "Traumatizer" all over advert.
