It's right the tender has been won by GHA, it will be route T3 and it will be run with double deckers in the main. There will be one smaller bus as part of the contract for filling in during the day, evenings and sundays. There is to be some major tree lopping carried out with one of the Plaxton President B7TL with the guard on the front going out for an assessment shortly.

YJ54BUW, an ex Rossendale Cummins engined solo arrived yesterday its been out on a school this afternoon. And the 2 R---XDA Plaxton DAF's departed for Barnsley yesterday also.

In other news, F811 FAO has gained an LED Display, it will now be used on 5/X5/X52 during the day use on its school run, as well as some occasions it may be used on the X50/X52!

Trust me, double deckers would never work on the X94 (T3) hence why its been single deck for so many years, the only double decker ive ever seen on the X94 was 3345 with Arriva and that had to miss out most of the route and only operated due to a shortage in vehicles and another thing is none of the other T prefixed routes have double deckers so why would there be a investment in double deckers in a route there certainly not suitable for.

Off the top of my head...

Wrexham - Corwen: should all be fine for double deckers, they are sometimes used on the 5 and school/college buses in this area and there are no low bridges.

Corwen - Bala: the road through Llandrillo and Cynwyd is quite narrow and windy with some overhanging branches. As stated above by LJ51 DCX there will be some serious tree-cutting needed to avoid smashed upper windscreens! The road into Llandderfel is narrow with plenty of old buildings and turning at the top of the village will be tricky with a decker. Possibly Llandderfel will only be served a few times a day by the workings operated by a single decker?

Bala - Dolgellau: only problem I can see would be through Llanuwchllyn where the road is narrow in places through the village. If a decker had to pass a lorry (or even a van) it might be tricky - there are shop signs etc overhanging the road.

Dolgellau - Barmouth - shouldn't be any problems. There is a low railway bridge in Barmouth but the X94/T3 doesn't go this way so it would only be a problem if the usual route was closed for some reason.

Exciting times ahead!

The Route 76 Beer Festival is back for Octoberfest!! As always GHA will be operating an every 15 minutes service serving Llandyrnog, Llangynhafal, Hendrerwydd, Llanbedr DC, Graigfechan, Llanfair, Ruthin, Rhewl and Llanrhaeadr in a clockwise direction. 7 buses will be needed this Saturday to transport the drunks from pub to pub. K772/781 DAO and SN04 EFU are already candidates for the service and 4 more buses will be sent from Ruabon over this next week, I'll keep an eye out for them!!Computer

A recent arrival which went straight into service in its Rossendale livery is Solo M880 - YJ54BUW – photo

An arrival at Winsford is Solo M850 – YM52TPV – which is believed to be owned by Cheshire East Council. This vehicle is currently being prepared for service – presumably new services in the Crewe / Congleton / Nantwich area due to start on 27th October.

The third ex Brighton and Hove Volvo B10BLE / Wright Crusader – R230HCD - has been given GHA (low floor livery) and is having upgraded seats – photo

Photo of R979PRD Volvo B10M / Berkhof Axial 50 reported last month as been given GHA (silver) livery -currently at Winsford.

Volvo B7TL / Plaxton President decker Y166NLK has entered the bodyshop and is being prepared for repainting.

CA05GHA the Vale liveried Dart has sustained damage in an RTC but is likely to be repaired soon.

GHA have published on their website the new timetables starting 2nd November for the recently won T3 (X94) Barmouth service which helpfully by the colour coding shows the vehicle schedules - Mon to Sat and Sunday

I understand that the majority of the current Nantwich services have been operated from Winsford for some time - the Nantwich - Crewe service being the last to transfer a month or so ago. I would imagine that most of the new services will be operated from Winsford.
