BA07 GHA was in Ruthin today operating a X5 service to Corwen, along with one of the Enviro 300's, I think it was EFU

I just hope when GHA Coaches take over the X94, the buses will wait for the T2 Aberystwyth <> Bangor service, because Arriva (especially the Wrexham bound service) never connected with this service and I ended up waiting 2 hours in Dolgellau. Lets hope GHA will connect the T2 Smile

The timetable (see earlier posts for link) states that X94 Service to wait up to 10 minutes at Dolgellau for connections with the T2

When Arriva operated both the X32 and X94, the Wrexham service always left with out connecting the Aberystwyth/ Bangor bound services, but fortunately the Barmouth service always connected.

During my recent contact it appears that final decisions have yet to be made on future vehicle allocations. Clearly the latest arrivals - the Enviro 300's will come into the equation. Also in addition to the 3 Eclipses there is also a Dart in Line 9 livery. Since the changes in the 9 / X9 only 2 vehicles are now required.

The good thing is we shall soon see what happens - next week!!!

GHA are contractually obliged to provide vehicles that are '55' plate or newer on the recently gained Flintshire contracts for services, 8, 9/X9 and 14.

Well they clearly dont stick to it as the dart is 52 Plated (SK52UTT)

Went out my way a little bit to sample the loadings of the X94 today with GHA Coaches, from what I saw it all looked promising with notably a VDL SB120/Wright Cadet with a standing load coming inbound to Wrexham, loadings seemed to be the same going in the opposite direction too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomasharrison/11516648624/

Today was the first day of operation by GHA of the former Arriva X94 Wrexham to Barmouth service. Following the withdrawal of Arriva from the commercial service Gwynedd County Council tendered the service for a six month contract and this was won by GHA. Unfortunately there was only a very short period (2 weeks) from confirmation of the contract until the beginning of the operation today. The service is initially being operated from Ruabon with quite a bit of dead mileage. It is believed that attempts are being made to find a suitable outstation and then two vehicles may be based in the Dolgellau area.

I did sample the service today and rode on the three vehicles utilised.

CA58GHA - Volvo B7RLE / Wright Eclipse Urban has just received the standard GHA (low floor) livery {previously line 9) and I understand will be a regular on the service. This bus appeared to be welcomed by passengers and drivers and managed to keep to time on a very difficult run with torrential rain and lots of standing water and delays. Photo - here

BA04GHA - Volvo SB120 / Wright Merit has also recently been given the standard livery (from Shuttle +). This also appeared to be a suitable vehicle for this service - it is equipped with quite comfortable seats. Photo - here

AA52GHA - Denis Dart SLF - was not what I was expecting as I had been informed the third vehicle would have been CA07GHA Volvo B7RLE / Centro. It did not appear popular with one or two passengers - whilst it was equipped with seat belts its Urban 90 plastic seats were not very comfortable for those travelling a distance. It also appeared to struggle and shudder when at top speed. Hopefully this will not be a regular. Photo - here

Will AA58GHA and BA58GHA receive GHA low floor livery too and commence operations on the X94? Smile

I would like to think so - but I am not aware that final decisions have yet been made.
