Very true GKA but that was a brand new bus at the time so made sense. Comparing the accidents that one was bad but not on this scale.

Are they painting anymore of the Pulsars into the interurban livery or has this stopped altogether

Well of course more will get painted into new livery but it will not be a priority whilst there are other vehicles needing attention.

A mate from the NE mentioned up there they may paint an old vehicle then dispose of it maybe a couple of months later or a year later so why bother with the old vehicles Arriva are disposing of from the fleet getting them refurbed and painted

With the rumour that route 47 is about to be MAXed, the next repaints may be these. Furthermore, some Pulsars will soon be displaced from routes 10, 10a, 10b and 52. So, Arriva may be in the process of evaluating which routes to upgrade to MAX or Sapphire, with a view to repainting or refurbishing batches accordingly.

As it is, I rather liked routes 10 and 10a having been converted to Pulsar 2 in 2009 with examples in both liveries!

A lot of displaced pulsars will be replacing the many X&Y reg vehicles that are around.

This does not surprise me. Arriva did order a lot of vehicles immediately after taking over MTL. As the seating in many of them is not very good, their imminent replacement will be good news!

And, surprisingly, most of them will be 15 years old next year. To be honest, when the 22xx Darts entered service I couldn't wait for them to be withdrawn. I really didn't think they would last this long. The question now is: will the Pulsars last as long? Roll on 2023.

Time will tell on the pulsars although some of them are quite ropey now and not necessarily all are older ones. To be fair though some of the Darts were equally ropey at similar ages.

I've never understood the posts on here about Pulsars. They will make it to 15 no problem and are better at their current age than Darts like the X-ANCs, R-ABAs etc. ever were.
