The Metoffice has issued a RED warning for South Wales , this is only tyhe second ever RED warning that i have ever seen , this is issued when there is danger to life and limb , there expecting in that red marked area between 20 and 30 cm of snow , with severe drifting in places .

The amber snow zone seems to have changed and we are now at the very top of that zone now , most of the North West now happens to be in the yellow zone now .

If you look further ahead on the weather, it says there's rain Tuesday which will wash anything fresh away and by next Thursday temperatures are back up to 7C so hopefully the snow will have been and gone by this time next week!

not anymore thats been updated to sleet within the last few mins

RE: The Weather - wirralbus - 17/01/2013 19:17

Its now sleeting on the Wirral , there has been a little bit of snow.

Looking at the met office rainfall radar , this batch moves out of the way and there is about 2 to 3 hours of nothing before more snow .

Been snowing hard in east Cheshire since about 5:30

RE: The Weather - wirralbus - 17/01/2013 19:37

Local geography in East Cheshire means that any weather that comes from the West will rest against the Pennines and usually just chuck it down but because the air is so cold that it is coming out of the sky as snow .

Probably in direct lie of the land the other side of the Pennines there is going to be very little new snow , just what had previously come down .

RE: The Weather - Jack - 17/01/2013 22:35

It's been snowing since 4pm, dieing down now though but it's on the ground. Not enough to go sledging though which is the only reason I want snow!! Can't see this being anywhere near as bad 2009/10, just not heavy enough.
